Blowfish:
great to know – thanks! – I guess the problem I would have is if I say yes to picking up a kid every day at 3pm I then couldn’t get a real job until June
haha DH. that was the best part of that opnion article lech kept posting, about everyone realizing living in NYC sucks– all this just for slightly larger bagels? no thanks
I’d call the authorities and demand the parents be charged child neglect. That would never happen to a child who was under my care. I am take my responsibilites seriously.
Pete, write to me offlist (robyf aol) and I will email you a bunch of Yahoogroups catering to parents in the brownstone Brooklyn area. All of them except Parkslopeparents are free and she can subscribe and grab a babysitting job. Definitely a need for pick the kid up from school/preschool, take him/her home, help with homework, maybe set up dinner. And some of them are for more than 3 hrs/day.
Will send it to you later. Have to go to (gasp!) work.
My daughter, at age 14, makes at least $7 and at most $10 for babysitting up to 2 kids.
SO now Obama is having a press conference in a few mins
I seriously HOPE he doesn’t give any press time to that idiot in Fl who wants to burn the Q’uran
I hope he has a JOBS plan!!!!!
G10- yes, in Brooklyn $18/hr is the going rate for a regular part-time babysitting gig. Occassional babysitting, (like say, the odd Friday night out) is $15/hr, as is full-time babysitting. Its harder to get part-time babysitters, I guess, so it pays more. Best way to get these gigs is word of mouth, but Craigslist also works.
I kinda agree with Rob on how annoying the competitive nature of NYC is. Work super hard for what? The ability to buy some overpriced piece of real estate and go out to eat and drink a few times a week?
If I were some of you guys – I would sell my home and move to the middle of no where in Italy or France and just sit around all day, drink espresso, smoke cigarettes and then switch to wine around 5pm.
