I’m surprised how many people I meet who have spent time as a bartender. Obviously childcare/tutoring is more her angle, but she sounds like someone who would be comfortable with nontraditional hours.
1. Rob — don’t look at the PS 107 thread. There’s a giant bedbug crawling up the side of the building. ^^^
2. Fela was great. Saw it off broadway two years ago. I also highly recommend seeing Antibalas live, if you get a chance (they are the musicians for the show).
3. Great pick wasder. Makes it clar this site is going to the dogs.
I think when I was 1st looking for work, economy was worse than now. In those days, no emailing resumes. They were typed on typewriter and than copies made.
I would look up in libray, the addresses of corporations, companies and personally drop off resume.
Very humiliating, the whole process.
First week at job I finally found, I had tears in my eyes – so depressed that this was my life—entering data into a computer terminal all day.
Luckily, I had a sofa to crash, at my brother and sister-in-law for couple months. So I would not hesitate to offer same to relative today.

Sorry to say but if you tried to Rob me on the street, I would probably just laugh in your face. You don’t exactly strike me as the threatening kind, sorry.
i would never rob anyone even if i was starving. maybe id rob dog food from the supermarket or something if i had to.
hmmm i do steal tomatoes sometimes from associated, so im not all that innocent.
in this weak job environmt, NYC is among the best places to be vs. other cities in the country. it’s really really shitty out there. you’ve heard me saying it looks real bad when I visited in-laws in virginia and N Carolina. during the most recent visit (last week), it looks even worst.
Pete- there are lots of parents looking for part-time babysitters to pick up their kids from school, and stay to about 6. Pays about $18/hr, maybe more in manhattan. That about $360 a week, tax-free, for part-time work (not that I agree with tax evasion). And that way, she could go to auditions the first half of the day.
my other idea is Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation. They love people like your neice, to teach afterschool prgorams in the arts to public school kids that otherwise don’t have arts programs.
I have no bartending/waitressing skills whatsoever – so what do I do?
am seriously considering getting a job at like West Elm or something if I don’t get something by end of October

Just catching up.

Networking is the only way I’ve ever gotten a job. I find headhunters totally useless.
And LMAO to drive-by fruiting, dave!
“How did you know my first name was Roger?”
Facebook, wasder
