  1. “PS…I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years and I got so much sex that I couldn’t handle it after a while. After a certain point of only eating, drinking and sex; you do actually get tired of it and need more!!!!”

Like espresso and cigarettes and wine! Oh, and books. That’s really all I need.

  2. Cobblehiller – AMEN SISTA!
that’s how I feel – I WANT TO WORK so badly that I am considering working at friggin WEST ELM, despite my 12 years of business experience just so I am productive but I am triying to exhaust all my options in the next 6 weeks before I do
it’s crazy out there in job search world – exactly what Rob and I said earlier that many companies now are really offering low pay for jobs they would have paid at least $20K more 4 years ago
    insane

CH – not sure if you ever emailed me at my hotmail account – but I went to unemployment yesterday for my “3 month check up” and had an awesome rep who was so helpful
I forget what you did in previous jobs but he was saying the state is hiring(the city isn’t and that there are many jobs posted on the state website where you can take the test and if you get a high score, they will call you first to come in for an interview etc

You’re all (even DIBS!) missing the subtext, which is lots of sex in between the espresso and cigarettes and wine.

PS…I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years and I got so much sex that I couldn’t handle it after a while. After a certain point of only eating, drinking and sex; you do actually get tired of it and need more!!!!

  4. What I don’t understand is how all these people who are unemployed for a year or more even survive! I keep reading articles about how hard it is for one’s self-esteem, how hard it is to fill one’s day, etc. But apart from keeping body and soul together, how about plain old food and shelter?

  5. Hey Noki — I saw, late in the day yesterday, your response to my comment on the HOTD thread. It was an honest response on my part, but you’re absolutely right that it was insensitive to speak that way about someone’s home.

  6. “This city isn’t for losers who can’t compete. It’s ALL ABOUT competition here. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. If you can’t, then move back to NJ or wherever you’re from.”

And what if you are from here? And ALWAYS worked here? And your family is here? And your friends are here? Where am I supposed to go, for chrisakes? This line of thinking is just insane! I can’t believe how many times I’ve heard it! And move where? With what money? And BH’s job? Am I supposed to leave him and go live in a tent in Peoria?

I’m really aggravated by some of the comments here today. (Not specifically you, ENY.)

MOST unemployed people want to work!
