poor long island.. it got the shaft when nyc sent out tons and tons of people from the projects out to long island with their section 8 vouchers.
tho, that is pretty much happening to all inner ring suburbs around the country.
people always seem to forget that the negative side of the gentrification of cities is that it ruins once stable and safe communities outside of the cities.
if you think kids who live in the city join gangs cuz they are bored, you havent seen anything yet when it comes to the crap they do in traditionally boring or quiet suburbs.
the chickens are coming home to roost and getting revenge on the children of the white flight generation lol. it’s kinda like nightmare on elm street but political and stuff.
“that is insane legion. why is it that in ny you cant have a gun in your own home in case of intruders? im sorry but if someone breaks into your home you DO have the right to shoot them in the face.”
cobble, I will correct him, but maybe not in the way that you think.
rob, the laws vary by locality. In NYC, you need a permit for a handgun or a long gun. In LI, and most of the rest of the state, you don’t need a permit for a long gun.
In all cases, you CAN shoot an intruder in the face if you’ve warned him not to move and he disregards your order AND he’s INSIDE your home. This DOES NOT apply outside your home, as outside your home you have a ‘duty to retreat’, i.e., you have to do everything possible to avoid taking another life. You can only use a gun outside your home if you are in appropriate fear of ‘deadly force’ being imminently used against you.
So, in both these cases, the fact that the armed homeowner left their home worked against them. As did their race.
Yes, agree with their fight for free speech in that case.
Yes, denton, it’s all about the state and local laws on gun use. And yes, I agree that if the NRA is going to pick their battles, they are on thin ice.
fuckin’ PISSED at the NRA for staying outta that one. They could have really shown that they will help any and all, but they just continue to show that they didn’t want to offend all their Aryan Brotherhood members. I almost canceled my membership over that one! And where’s the NRA this time? They have a big bucks legal defense fund. This is the ultimate gun nightmare, gangs invading your house, but the NRA ain’t saying boo. Shame on them.
“he’ll likely get off as he only fired warning shots.”
Sure about that dibs? Think he woulda been locked up if he was white? I don’t.
Actually, the real moral of these stories is, if you’re gonna own a gun, you better understand the laws about using them. In both cases, they are really in trouble cuz they went outside. Altho in more enlightened states it would be noted that they were still on their own property.
Actually I kind of agree with that one DIBS. That’s makes sense for the ACLU to fight. But they pick some really dumb ones sometimes. Can’t think of one off the top of my head, unfortunately.

“Would Rob’s fan club please correct him here. Thx.”
This is a matter of tort law – too pedestrian for the legal counsel on this site.

Book him, Dan-O.
(But will they still use the original theme music by the Ventures, I wonder. Great tune.)
Legion, actually the far worse one was that black guy who shot that white kid a few months ago.

Meaning I think the ACLU’s decision to fight that one makes sense to me.

DIBS, I think that makes sense – shows the ACLU fights for free speech no matter the message, i.e., that they are not just a liberal mouthpiece.
