I came pretty damned close to having a nervous breakdown in the Brooklyn Costco. Seriously. Couldn’t go back for YEARS. Went a few months ago with Arkady, totally different experience. I think she’s got a Costco magic touch that allows it to be a peaceful place and a good shopping experience. Never mind American Express. When it comes to Costco, don’t leave home without Arkady.
Hey, *butterfly*, the overpriced hot dogs I got at The Landing were fantastic. Your choice of all beef or apple-smoked chicken hot dogs. All organic of course. And they weren’t too expensive. Only $5 / hot dog and totally worth it. What a great dinner to have on my walk home on the new BBP path. . . . If only I’d been wearing my blue jeans, sneakers and t-shirt, it would’ve been perfect!
MM, more power to you. I used to LOVE Costcos when I was in KC and shopped there all the time, (trying not to give in to impulse buying – hard…) but in Brooklyn, it is a total nuthouse. I figured that the combination of the yearly fee and the fact that I was a quivering bag of nerves every time I ever came out of there — was enough to swear me off the bargains there. Also, in KC I used to be able to buy WINE. Good stuff and way cheaper than elsewhere.
Regarding gourmet overprice pet food: Whenever I can get to Costco I buy their Kirkland dry catfood. It’s exactly the same as Science Diet for a fraction of the cost. Science Diet is somewhere around $22 for a 7 lb bag, Costco is around $18 for a 20 lb bag. My guys love it, and their digestion is better than cheaper quality brands. It probably comes out of the same hopper in the factory, just different bags. I would bet their Kirkland dog food is also equivelent to a premium brand. It amazes me what people will pay for pet food.
and both pedigree and come and get it are both crappy, but one is a little better. the really good dog food (supposedyl good) seems crazy overpriced but i do occassionaly get it for him

Dave, are you writing a limerick? There is a special prize with your name on it!
I am going to write one and if I win, I would like a TIARA, please.

(Will resist evil comment about what Rob might be eating in his old age.)
