  1. Ishtar,

I have been taking the subway for many years. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was a teenager, there was a sign: Young enough to ride for free? Young enough to ride on your knee! But I only remember it on buses.

Although I often disagree with DIBS, I agree on what he said about Rob. I guess he has nothing better to worry about than getting the seat he pays for on the subway. Glad he doesn’t drive–that’s the kind of attitude that causes many accidents on the road, the feeling that you own your little piece of the pavement.

  2. dh, it’s not an issue when the train is crowded…it’s when the train is practically empty that it causes problems since those standing to get on see NO ONE in the doorway getting off and so they enter and then some douchebag gets up and pushes off through them and usually gets all in a huff because people are coming on.

  3. “rob’s probably also one of those douchebags who waits until the train has come to a FULL STOP before he gets up to head for the door, meanwhile passengers already started to enter the train since no one was standing at the door to exit.”

I don’t agree with this. I hate when people who are sitting on the subway stand up while the train is still moving (especially if the train is very crowded). Everyone has their spot and place to hold on to and someone standing up messes it all up. The people waiting to get on should wait until everyone gets off. It’s not that hard.

  4. Slopey,

Thanks for your help yesterday. I was eventually guided to Carolyn’s office and helped by a wonderful aide. We figured out the best course of action. And while I felt rather ridiculous at the end of it all for channeling Jane Bond, I’m telling you, it might be the cutest kid I’ve ever seen. So I hope it works out.

lol. um why would i get up out of my seat while the train is still moving? you do realize that is an accident waiting to happen right?

    *rob*

  6. i cant fault her for squishing in. it was a buckled two seater and i was sitting in one, she had the right to sit in the other. besides, many times i will squish myself in between two legg spreaders out of principle. that’s why i dont like the new trains that dont have seat demarcations.

    *rob*

  7. “I hate when people squeeze into a seat they cannot fit in. Someone told me there you used to be signs on the train telling people not to do that.”

I’m sure those signs were removed by the Political Correctness Police.
