    Speaking of the WTC site. I had dinner at The Palm last night (Chambers and West Side Highway). The food was excellent.

    Hall monitor will be here to condemn “bragging” in 10, 9, 8, 7…

  2. Pakistani Taliban Hint At Attacks on Aid Workers

    Mir Ali, Pakistan (AP) — The Taliban hinted Thursday they may launch attacks against foreigners helping Pakistan respond to the worst floods in the country’s history, saying their presence was “unacceptable.” The U.N. said it would not be deterred by violent threats.
    The militant group has attacked aid workers in the country before, and an outbreak of violence could complicate a relief effort that has already struggled to reach the 8 million people who are in need of emergency assistance.

  3. Donatella;

    You introduced the whole debate on the mosque by mentioning the poor cabbie who was slashed because he was a muslim.

    Not trying to make an association between this incident and the opponents of the mosque?

  4. Was out to dinner with 5 friends on Tuesday. 5 of us worked in world trade complex on 9-11, 1 in 1WT, 1 in 5WT, and 3 in 7WT.

    No mention of mosque came up. Topics were economy, jobs and health.

  5. Gem- many of those families are intimidated, but you’re right. It’s exactly what has been happening. Not too long after the site closed down, one of the priests who was on the site every day commented that because Irish firefighters and cops made up the biggest percentage the Irish were the most important. I know the man, he was quoted in one of the Irish papers. It was despicable.

    “Where is the Iman’s responsibility???? The ball should be in his court, if he is trying to build bridges, his ostensible purpose.”

    Why don’t you take a look at his history of interfaith work, and the people on his board? You want to know something about his reputation? How about the fact he is so respected that he was invited to speak at the synagogue when Daniel Pearl was buried. He gave a eulogy for him.

    Because it doesn’t matter to people like benson what the facts are. They have it all from the likes of Glenn Beck. And if the liberals lose votes because of the mosque, well then my estimation of the mentality of Americans drops yet another 50 notches because there are far more important things for us to be worrying about.
