“I was going to comment on that too, rob. I decided not to. I’m in no mood to be attacked by folks who think this city is the center of the universe.”
No one said center of the universe, I said beacon of freedom in this country. Almost every person in this country can trace their roots to those who passed through Ellis Island because New York was the symbol of freedom.
Do you know what the Statue of Liberty truly stands in New York harbor for, or is it just another tourist trap to you?
All I’m saying is that when a person who owns land is no longer able to build what they want due to denial of religious freedom (as long as it adheres to our laws) then this is not America anymore and certainly not New York.
Think about it. This is the first instance down a slippery slope…
Ok, other than hanging out with PLUSAs and friends and clients, I don’t go to bars. Or I don’t hang out in bars.
oh nevermind.”
Ummmmm, yeah, nevermind is right. Other than hanging out in bars with PLUSAs and hanging out in bars with clients and hanging out in bars with friends. Oh, no, barfly, you don’t go to bars, or hang out in bars. Time to post the photos!
I was with some people from upstate NY this weekend. One of them was quite shocked to hear that ANYONE in NYC supported the cultural center/mosque.
I’m with you, 11217, it’s important to support this center. I worry that it will set some kind of precedent if it’s forced to move, and that it will send a message of intolerance.
I believe the major chunk of money they have now is from ASMA. The list of ASMA supporters is impressive:
Carnegie Corporation of New York
Rockefeller Brothers
Rockefeller Philanthropy
Rockefeller Brothers Fund
Global Fund for Women
William & Mary Greve Foundation
The Sister Fund
The Russell Family Foundation
Danny Kaye & Sylvia Fine Foundation
Graham Charitable Foundation
Deak Family Foundation
Henry Luce Foundation
The Elizabeth Foundation
The Ms. Foundation
Hunt Alternatives
CGar, the Tom Cat is back.

Thank you. We are already well aware of how unhappy you are here.
One day, I hope you find a place to live that is more enjoyable for you.
Oops, sorry….here’s the link to ASMA. http://www.asmasociety.org/home/p_support.html
