  1. The first ever help wanted ad in the OT:

Mrs. D is so impressed with the intelligence and especially the work ethic of people that post on Brownstoner all day, she has asked me to post the following job openings. These are for a MediCare SNP (Special Needs Plan) HMO:

    1. Director of Compliance, obviously specific skill set needed.

    2. Business Analyst, some health care background needed but outside experience considered.

Salary for both, low six figures, standard bennies EXCEPT an honest to goodness defined BENEFIT pension (when was the last time you saw one of these?). Location, UES, near dibs. What could be better?

    ALSO a contract position:
She needs a web programmer to post a previously populated Excel spreadsheet on a website and make it searchable. She has a price from someone but feels it’s high. Potential for more work in the future.

email me and I will pass along the info, denton at speakeasy dot net.

  2. did you see the article about the couple on the vespa who saw someone get mugged and then sped off in their faster after the thief and got that person’s belongings back from the thief!? hahah.

but yeah, i agree, people who drive vespas i want them to DIAF.

    *rob*

  3. At a certain stage in life, there is a thing called grey hair and most of the time, it is NOT COOL. That is when you find the professionals and fork over the dough for good hair care (includes color). Good colorists are like drug dealers for middle aged women – you gotta see them (though of course we covered this, we never discuss age, right Cobble).

Bad color is bad news. Whenever you see someone with what I call “Magic Marker Head”, you know either they tried it themselves or they went to somebody BAD BAD BAD.

  4. “It’s too quiet around here.
Can someone start some trouble….but please no long rambling boring posts.”

People who own Vespas in the United States are all posers. It’s just a pointless fashion statement. Vespas are terrible transportation in NYC. No one buys a Vespa because they seriously think it’s a good way to get around. They buy them because they want people to see them riding around and say something like “wow, that’s so European.” Dipshits.

  5. CNN poll of New Yorkers: By 2-1 NY voters oppose the plans to build near ground zero.

The same voters, however, overwhelmingly say the center’s developers have a constitutional right to build it.

When asked if they “support or oppose the proposal to build the Cordoba House,” New Yorkers said they oppose the facility, which is expected to cost $100 million, by a 63-27 percent margin. At the same time, by a 64-to-28 percent margin, New Yorkers say Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf has the constitutional right to build it.

“A majority of every demographic group – by party, region, age, gender, political philosophy – agrees that there is a Constitutional right to proceed,” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg. “Even a majority of those who oppose building the mosque agree by a margin of 51-42 percent that they have the right to build it.”
