Of course there are. There are legitimate concerns about how TAX EXEMPT religious organizations engage in political campaigning. There has been a temendous blurring of the separation of church and state over the past 10-15 years and that has to stop right now.
Trust me, the American public is NOT going to allow any encroaching of Sharia Law.
So do you think we should be passing all sorts of anti-muslim laws?
I listened to a program on NPR where Daisy Khan, wife of Faisal Abdul Rauf, spoke in quite a lot of detail about Sharia Law and never once did she talk about modifying the constitution! Where do you get this stuff?! In fact, what she spoke about was the idea of muslims practicing Sharia Law adapting those laws to the host country! Not imposing them on it.
L, Actually, I’ve done plenty of manual labor in my time, and still so some. I’m more on your side than not, except that I would say I work around many folks that make over 100k and who would be considered blue collar… operating engineers, electricians, plumbers, etc. So it’s not incompatible to make a decent living working with one’s hands.
Ishitar states:
“From my experience many of these people have outside interests that are far more engaging, but unfortunately don’t pay a living wage”
Totally agree, I wouldn’t rag on rob if he were writing the Great American Novel, trying to be the next Lady Gaga, or the next Picasso.
dh, there are certain things which ARE done better in France:
Crepes
Foie gras
Renaults
Clarets
Champagne
Attitude
“and, more importantly, France is France.”
Yeah, they have more Arabs, and they put them in ghettos.
ishtar,
current laws are enough to handle most issues as far as criminality.
For instance,
US law won’t allow for a harem at present……
…wait…
does Sharia allow for a harem?
….I’m gonna have to rethink this whole issue…
France isn’t “tolerant” of anyting non-French on social issues.
“there are legitimate concerns here.”

France is NOT the U.S.
dibs,
that’s just it,
France is usually more “tolerant”
of social issues.
…hey they even go topless on the beaches there
“sacre bleu!”
if France sees an issue there,
what do you think is happening?
Legion, are you suggesting our current laws are not enough to deal with these issues?
