One comical interlude — Spanish and Russian speakers made announcements. From the Spanish it was roughly about understanding English. Lines of people went up for a language test. Then they announced it in English and people started to go up and the announcer said that if you could understand what he just said, sit back down, your English is fine.

And it reminds me, so many of the locals in the Adirondacks are four hours away from two of the greatest cities in the world, and yet have no desire to go. Never mind Europe or the rest of the world. Yet they’re expected to understand and grapple with the issues.

seriouly, why do they have to give a crap about nyc, montreal, and especially europe?! that is a snobby attitude to have, some people dont give a crap about snobby ass nyc and montreal and backwards as hell and primative lazy ass europe. besides with the internet, you can go anywhere you want without actually having to be there, so travel is essentially moot and pretty much only done for show and bragging rights these days.
