  1. Hi folks;

    Late to the party! My final day in Tokyo. Can I play catch-up on some of the topics? I’ll throw out my 2 cents on a couple of items:

    -ENY and MM: I can understand your points on the cartoon, but I really don’t think it was intended this way. Just speaking for myself, when I saw it, I never made the connection for a simple reason that no one has brought up: Obama had very little to do with the WRITING of the stimulus bill. Perhaps I’m too much of a politico,and the general public does think he wrote part of the bill. In reality though, he let Congress write the bill, which actually backfired on him, as folks (myself included) felt that let it turn into a “Congress gone wild” bill. I think that is the point the cartoonist was trying to make.

    -This cartoonist, as well as the POST, can often be offensive. Frankly, I’d prefer that they touch on some sensitivities, if that is the price we pay for freedom of the press.

    -As the resident robo-republican, let me defend the NY Post. Much of the Post is what you would expect from a tabloid. However, NO PAPER in NYC keeps local politicians and businesses in check as much as the Post. Who broke the stories on Charlie Rangel’s tax issues and on his villa? Who broke the story of Citi’s new jet? Fred Dicker ot the POST is the ONLY journalist who keeps an eye on what goes on in Albany. He is the only one who talks about the rank corruption in Albany. Politicians would be filled with glee if the Post folded.

    -Finally, going back to the PS CO-OP. Snark, in my condo complex I know one lawyer and one Wall St.banker who belong to the COOP. Here are people who live in condos worht more than $1M, and they spend their Sunday mmornings ringing up groceries. It’s their choice,but as far as I’m concerned,it’s incongruous.

  2. Rob, it’s the border of Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill and is close to Borough Hall, through which almost every subway line passes. It’s a very short cab ride from Park Slope as well.
