How many ibankers and lawyers are members of the co-op?
All the ones I know are social workers, community organizers, and other decidedly non-wealthy sorts.

It is about as irrelevant as the whole Food CO-OP itself, in which investment bankers and lawyers from a wealthy area play cashier and bag groceries, to demonstrate that they can beat capitalism.

Neighborhood Watch: Slope Co-op’s Israel Ban? —The Jewish Daily Forward reports that the Park Slope Food Co-op—long the punching bag of anti-Slopers who portray the market as bleeding-heart headquarters—is considering a ban on Israeli-grown produce as a response to the situation in Gaza. Could this cause war amongst the 15,000 members? Says a rabbi connected with the Co-op: “It will remain an irrelevant gesture to 5 million Israelis and 2 million Palestinians, but it will make someone in Park Slope feel really good about themselves. That’s what this is about; it’s about the political purity, which is part of Park Slope’s unique self-absorption.”
The political cartoons in the Post are often incredibly tasteless. I’m glad they are being called on this. When I first saw it, I thought it meant that the bailout was so dumb that it had been written by a deranged chimp, but when I heard the other interpretation, I could see that too. Really offensive.

Free speech IS guaranteed under our Constitution, and I defend their right to so obviously compare the President of the United Staes to a chimpanzee, and my right to call it what it is – very offensive.

Cobblers – as I don’t think Dolanas is a raging racist I think what he meant was the stimulus bill was written by chimps (congress). I can’t see why Dolanas (given the chimp story) wouldn’t have written exactly the same cartoon if McCain was president. As far as his culpability – its difficult to imagine why he didn’t take a step back after he drew it and think – how’s this going to be interpreted?
Eric Holder was getting at all this in his comments yesterday, was he not.
