It’s part of the overall narcissistic, death-spiral of socialism: life is hard, being married is hard, raising kids is hard, paying for defense is hard, having ethics and morality is hard. Vacation is easy; having the United States pay for your defense, subsidize your healthcare (R&D, etc.), easy.
Gay marriage isn’t progressive; it’s regressive. I hope it fails. And I hope Judge Scalia is taking his vitamins.
Benson —
You’re 10:12 comment sounds like a Fox sound bite. The first half isn’t even true. Obama is definitely not hiding behind the “inheritance”! Do you honestly think he would be satisfied after 4 or 8 yrs to say… “Well, folks, Bush really screwed it up big. There was nothing I could do!” Or perhaps, just perhaps, he is honestly working extremely hard to figure out a solution to bring our economy back on track?! (You don’t have to agree with his approach, but you can’t keep calling him a do nothing or whatever you are trying to portray.)
If you cannot see the difference between a mandate, and a position stating that health care should be accessible and affordable to all, then there’s no discussion to be had.
Once again, like Tybur6 did above, the premise of your latest statement is that the people are stupid, and so they elected Bush because they responded to his fearmongering.
As a guy who has observed politics for some time, let me give you some advice: when you find your side insisting that the problem is the people’s stupidity, you are in the fever swamps. It’s time for a reset. The Republicans were in the same funk a few years ago – everybody goes through it.
By the way, the same advice applies to life in general. When you find yourself blaming other people for your problems or lack of success, it’s time to go on vacation and do som e deep thinking.
We used to say America was founded on the ‘Protestant work ethic’. Therefore, investment income was always taxed at a higher rate than regular income, until recently, since regular income was earned with the ‘sweat of one’s brow’. A pretty conservative pov if you ask me
ok, let me sit back and enjoy this and bring up the sports talk afterwards.

Gold Coast usually refers to the big pre-war buildings on 5th between the park and 14th & the streets around them.
