  1. “That is not what Wall Street investors are interested in. They want growth for growth’s sake. Hopefully they will have sold their stocks by the time the company implodes or runs its course.”

Well technically I am a Bay Street investor now, but that is not what we do (nor what I did when on Wall Street).

  2. DIBS –
Why is it then that Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are both calling for ‘tax rate parity’?! They both argue that the taxes on the wealthy need to go up! This is why i said REAL flat tax. If you keep in all the loopholes, tax shelters, and gimmicks then OF COURSE the rich will continue to pay far less.

    You’re being ridiculous today.

  3. M4L – I usually just lie about my destination when I get one of those cabbies who pulls up and wants to know where you’re going before you get in. Then when I’m in and the door is closed I tell him where I’m really going, and if he gets shitty with me I get shitty back. I wouldn’t fuck up a man’s cab though. A lot of those guys are scraping by to feed their families. If they have to spend a few hundred bucks to fix a door that’s a big deal to them.

  4. I’m in favor of a flat tax on principle. Would remove the tendency of governments to try to make policy via tax credits rather than via explicit legislation.
(I would also probably benefit from it financially, depending on the level at which it was set).

  5. “1 term limit for all gov spots”

I say 2 terms. And I would amend the Constitution so that members of the House of Representatives are elected for staggered four (4) year terms. Re-electing the entire House every two (2) years is the main reason the country is stuck in perpetual campaign mode.

    Carry on.

  6. “Etson — But that is suggesting “rational growth” connected to a reason, a purpose. That is not what Wall Street investors are interested in.”

YES, IT IS. You need to separate hedge funds and day traders from where the vast MAJORITY of stocks are held, in institutions like mutual funds, retirement accounts and pensions.

I’m not sure that you know the definition of “investors.”
