Think about how cheap food is at most restaurants.
im trying… but i can’t. food at restaurants doesnt really scream cheap to me.. but i agree most restarautneurs are tax cheats, but they seem to get a free pass.
Proposal: Restaurant owners and other owners of hard-to-track cash businesses should be completely exempt from paying tax, and taxes should be increased on people who can’t hide their earnings easily.
Think about how cheap food is at most restaurants. It’s cheap because the owner is a tax dodger, and so are a lot of his employees. If he had to pay tax, your food would be more expensive.
People who can’t hide their income (bankers, for example) are easy to tax. They make a hell of a lot more than they would if they didn’t have to pay tax.
Who pays the taxes doesn’t really matter. People will charge what they have to in order to make the right after tax income.
All that really matters is how fair the system is and what kind of resources we have to dedicate to chasing tax cheats.
The current system is completely unfair because an honest restaurant owner will be undercut by the dishonest ones and it’s just silly to think we can catch all the dishonest people in a cash business.
So just exempt restaurants, coffee carts, etc. And make up the shortfall by increasing tax on people whose earnings are easy to track.
We all pay the total tax burden one way or another. Whether you are the one who actually writes the check doesn’t really matter.
Rob, I’ll tell you what it has to do with taking care of yourself. Letting your laundry pile up like that is NOT taking care of yourself. Wearing clean clothes and having good hygiene is part of taking care of yourself.
You had all weekend to come up with a way to do your laundry.
lol donatella youve been quite the yuppie these days hahaha

Rob, HA!!!! I knew that I would get a reacton from you on that!!! lol. I can survive without French pastries and they are not the key to my identity, but there is nothing holy about (hmmm…how can I put this without getting into somebody’s blog????) having a hair place/nail place/bodega only retail environment around your train station. I’d like to be able to spend some money (when I want to and have it) on something in the hood…. I’ll leave it there or I will be accused of something by some not as nice as you Rob (my friend my buddy with the stinky clothes, stay away from me till you get this worked out ok?)

” My proposal for everyone to just be honest about it and make it all legal.”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Next time I see you, please remove the rose colored glasses.
Oh, I almost forgot – fire a lot of people at the IRS who won’t be needed any more.
And w/r/t bankers, by “easy to tax” I meant there is very low risk of tax evasion as compared to restauranteurs and their ilk.
BTW this is pretty much how the system already works. My proposal for everyone to just be honest about it and make it all legal.
Yes lechacal. But, paraphrasing Margaret Thatcher, soon the ones you are raising the taxes on will run out of money.
They are also the ones most likely to eat out in retaurants.
Seems that people like Obama (and now YOU) don’t understand that.
Have a nice day. 🙂
i’ve went to two cyclones games with the janitor at work, i must bad luck or something cuz they both poured rain 🙁 like of the monsoon variety!

Glad you had a nice time, Benson. Coney Island is wonderful and someday I will try a Cyclones game.
