MM, does this extend to movies with actors in monkey suits (I don’t mean formal attire, I mean monkey suits literally), such as Planet of the Apes?

I don’t understand the whole chimps as pets thing. Just because they have opposable thumbs, and share DNA with us does not make them good pets. Putting diapers or clothes on them doesn’t hide the fact that they are highly intelligent animals that most people do not have the training to understand or control. They are not little hairy people.

I never liked movies with monkeys as sidekicks to actors, or movies where the monkeys are all characters, like monkeys in space, or something. Seemed cruel to the animals, and especially desperate for the actors, who must go through the whole experience reciting the mantra, “This pays for my house, this pays for my house.” Remember Ron Ely, the Tarzan in the 70’s? He was allergic to Cheetah, and had to be medicated in order to have the chimp crawl all over him.

Horrible. Apparently the chimp ate a Xanex before the incident!!!
