I know your old block very well: West 6th between O and P. I used to walk up that block all the time on my way to the famous 5-star barber shop on the corner of West 6th and 65th Street.
My mother-in-law still lives on West 3rd between O and P.
Still some good places in that area: Monte’s sub shop and La Palina, my favorite red-sauce Italian restaurant in Brooklyn.
benson, Congratulations on your new-to-you car purchase. You really can’t go wrong with a Honda. So, did you call your daughter last night to see if she was me, or I was her, or whatever?
I think getting a notebook is a great idea; with Gotomypc, you can get access to a more powerful computer but it is small portable enough for good internet access. Good for you Rob.
My neighbor has an Element. It seems very practical and Benson I think you will have a lot of luck with you mini-SUV. Perfect for Brooklyn.
I’ve rented the Element several times from Zip Car, and I love it. You can get in and out really easily, without cracking your head on the top of the car. I can see why it is popular with us old folks. I really hate climbing into cars where you have to remember to put your head in first, before the rest of your body, or else you can’t get in. I’m only 5’9″, I don’t see how anyone taller would want to buy a car that is so difficult get into.
it was 250. 272 with tax. ugh why is sales tax so high in this state!? it’s not large, it’s small. it’s roughly the size of the neon green african children’s computer i was using a while back. the screen is like 10 inches or so.
have to say though, I’m loving the Subaru Outback – ie the best SUV like but not an SUV out there
Bennie;
Didn’t get to talk to my daughter last night.

Agree, denton.
I don’t care about getting in and out of a car, I want to be in one that’s fun to drive.
