benson,
the doc I worked for in Bensonhurst used
to go there weekly.
I’d tag along once in a while
the Fra Diavalo sauce was super,
just the right amount of heat.
We always had the same waiter,
a really nice guy Sal.
I went shark fishing with him
and the doc once and caught a
blue shark 30 miles out from the
Rockaway Inlet.
bennie, I dated a girl who lives (lived?) on your old block. Good memories. Did you see what they did with West 6th? Used to be a 4 lane street and now it’s down to two. :o(
Fiorentino’s used to be THE PLACE to go to, and I knew the family (they lived one block from me).
The last time I went, however, I didn’t like it at all. It was the time of my father-in-law’s funeral, and he was laid up at the funeral home right next door (Sabatino’s), so I ate there several times, and each time I was disappointed (my guests felt the same way). The brother who was the cook passed away a few years ago, and the place has gone downhill since then. Moreover, the other brother who runs the place is an arraogant SOB – thinks he’s got gold there.
Legion, I’m glad to be back as the in-law’s screaming / crying kids were getting to me near the end of the stay – it really made me even more appreciative of my super easy going boy
Rob, these temp workers have hard times finding jobs in NYC from what I’ve heard. That’s why they head to hamptons, cape cod, jersey shore, etc. to work at delis, restaurants, cafes, etc. since there is a large demand for temp. summer workers at those places.
