Rob, have to harp on you today. am disappointed you’re not applying yourself more (ie expect more from straight A student) but moaning about interns who’s willing to work for free to advance themselves.
I am not saying jester, but sometimes there can be a real underestimation of “disadvantaged” kids everywhere. That is the beauty of the Catholic schools or any school that raises the bar HIGH for all the kids.
Even though it seems unrelated, that is one of the reasons I LOATHE the Brooklyn Museum, which dumbs down everything to be popular with the “community”. But everything drips condescension, as though the scholarship associated with the incredible richness of their collection is out of the range of the people in the community.
and these are not “kids” they are adults. im so tired of 28 year olds referring to themselves as kids. are teenagers the new toddlers!? infants are embryos!? grow up!

Well, it does suck when someone can take a “better” job for free as an intern because someone else is paying their expenses when another kid, just as worthy, cant take the internship because they need to get a job that pays.
thank you! and what’s up with 30 something year old interns these days!?!

really? 30 something interns? what industry is that?
magazines, blogs, publishing, television and video, museums, etc. half of bushwick and williamsburg are 30 year old free labor interns

My last g/f was a 33 year old intern at a clothing design company.

Fine, blame the companies that aren’t paying younger people to come in and learn about a new line of work.
But don’t sh*t on people that try to get ahead and learn something new.

JB, but one cant blame that intern who can work for free. besides, there’s lots of good paid internships available to the really really smart ones.
