CGar, one of these weekends, I’ll take you to a real good one and you’ll notice the difference. Again, not bad but not great.
I’ve been to Penang. In fact, i slept with the owner. I’d rate both experiences a “2” on a scale of 1-10.
m4l, why don’t you like Penang in SoHo? Just curious because I’ve always had great meals there, and at the one on the UWS.

rf, that Penang is worst than the ones in Chinatown so keep that in mind. not bad but certainly great

rf, it’s not Thai, but Penang (on Spring Street, a block away from the Apple Store) is a great Malaysian restaurant that I highly recommend.
