Just because she was afraid does not make it valid (unless you’re a therapist). Some people are deathly afraid, some ridiculously quick to take offense…should we take that as the norm and treat people accordingly?

The point is we don’t know the entire story. Commenting in a friendly that she looks good or whatever is hardly harassment.

Right. Go back and read what you wrote cmu. wow.

“But if a woman feels fear, that is the important thing”

You also need to treat people as people. In that thread, the woman never said she felt “creeped out” or threatened, just uncomfortable. And we don’t know if he asked once or more.

Judging from the over-reactions of most of the responses I was beginning to feel sorry for that poor guy.

Having a key would only be an issue is she felt he was a threat.

Cmu, your advice was so off the target, I couldn’t believe it. She was afraid.

  4. The thing that creeped me out was, a small brownstone has a full-time mainteance guy, more or less. Where I used to live there was one, but the landlord was physically decrepit.

There’s such a thing as letting a guy down gently but you’d think the guy would know better, from say, a lifetime of asking out women?? That’s how I learned.

yeah, cuz im sure she won’t mind coming home from work early one day and seeing him in her room sniffing her panties, right? gross. people who mop floors and take out trash for a living should NOT have keys to your apartment, period! im sorry but it’s true. you have no IDEA how many sexual predators and criminals wind up becoming supers and handimen in buildings and stuff. FYI, my super on ludlow who was a super in various buildings his whole life told me so, so im not just honking out of my ass on this one.
