I was home sick one day and watching the Food Network. That blonde horror show Sandra Lee came on with her show Semi-Homemade Cooking. She proceeded to make supposedly “healthy, kid-friendly food that is also delicious!”
She made perfectly delicious store bought mac & cheese, added some peas for the vegetable aspect (totally fine so far, might even make that myself)…. THEN…. she spoons in this huge pile of mayonnaise. I puked a little in my mouth as she slowly stirred it in. AAACK!
(1) How is that possibly healthy?! and (2) Why the fuck would you ruin delicious mac & cheese and delicious peas?
I was watching some chef on tv saying
that you can boil vegetables for a couple
of minutes
then paint them with mayo and
pop them in the broiler for a few,
right, pumpkin pie is gross. I’m sure in england they have other gross stuff we don’t know about.
And I always thought brussel sprouts were inedible. But last year had them prepared that was good. Of course all chopped up, sauted and covered the taste with other good things.
Mayo is so disgusting!! I tried the mac and cheese at that new place Bread and Butter on Henry in the north heights and they served it with a side of mayo. I almost hurled. Is that a french thing? Thanks for the suggestions, Dave.
I think it’s perfectly acceptable to take home a doggy bag. You are paying for the food, and if you actually eat it later, then that’s perfect. If you take it home for your dog, that’s fine, too. It doesn’t go to waste. Usually, at fancy schmancy places they don’t give you enough food for the actual meal, let alone a doggy bag.
I have to say I’ve never been at a group meal where there was any wine left over. If I’m out by myself or just a couple of us, we order by the glass. Cheers!
