  1. A larger point,

Do not expect other nations or people to solve this problem.

As the USA is considered the lone “super power”,
it is in other nation’s best interest to keep us occupied with problems (a worldwide war on terror seems good enough).

Note China is again stepping back from Iranian sanctions
and the Russians are playing their own world chess championship (ironically with their own radical muslim problem as well).

meanwhile, in Europe, this same issue is being debated,
France(Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite) has passed a law against Islamic coverings. It is beginning to raise tensions (10% muslim).

…I recently saw a woman in a Burka at a Home Depot in Glendale, Queens. And another in a Waldbaum’s on Flatbush Ave.

Like it or not, we will be facing our own national debate in the future.

  2. It was actually a great night for Democrats (real ones) last night. Joe Sestak has a much better chance of beating Pat Toomey (who truly is a maniac) in the general election for the PA Senate seat. Sestak is a 30 year Navy vet and a life long Dem, as opposed to a politician who switched last year out of expediency.

Secondly the Dems retained the Murtha seat in PA (as noted above) which was the only seat out of 435 house seats to go from Kerry to McCain.

And the more progressive candidate in Arkansas forced a runoff with Blanche Lincoln which she is very much likely to lose.

So despite the hype of a right wing wave election, what appears to be developing is a generalized anti-incumbent election. The democrats having more incumbents makes them more vulnerable but this is not an ideological wave. PRogressive insurgents did just as well as Tea Party insurgents.

Lets not fight about islam today folks! Americans do have special rules of engagement precisely because we aspire to be the beacon of the world. That definition by definition leaves us vulnerable to people who want to be more cynical and destructive than us. Lets not stoop to their level. that would truly be “appeasement” of the highest order.

“sounds like donatella knows her stuff!”

Or is the local Benjamin Moore rep.

I probably could be at this point – I’ve bought enough of that paint – it makes me happy to have somebody benefit by all my mistakes :).

  4. *rob*, BJ also has washable/scrubbable paint base, for any color. I have some and like it. You can just take a soapy sponge to you and it cleans very easily. I also have a couple of their near-white shades– it looks just as finished as a color. I have “Calm” mixed with the shade below it, and still seem pretty near white.
