If you want a lighter feeling in your place, bright white doesn’t always work. What is the exposure of your room? A northern exposure often works well with a cooler palate — you can get a whole range of off-whites (take a look at the Benjamin Moore whites chip sheet) which cast different color shadows. So if it is a northern exposure, you might consider something with a cooler cast (white with a grey/lavender cast for example ) or if it is southern you can find a white with a warmer cast. I think gallery white works where there is bright light, but can look dingy or chalky if not. Benjamin Moore sells little jars of tester paints so you can try something you think you might like without buying a whole gallon. So anyway, you can get a lighter different feeling in your place with a white which has a slight color cast without going the stark white route. I think I have spent too much time thinking about these things. Good luck.

rob, as someone who stuttered growing up and still gets tripped up “proprietary” is an awful word. “In house” usually suffices.
