“They kill way more people from other nations. Just sounds a bit tasteless to constantly beat the drum of Americans killed as if our lives have inherently more value.”
That said, wasder, there is a concerted and focused effort on America and Americans. i don’t think anyone is arguing that an American life is worth more than any other.
I was a little conflicted last night during the NBA draft pin balls – loved to see Nets get #1 pick but then worry that would make Nets more attractive to Lebron (& also risk losing wager with blowfish).
What the hell are you talking about? Who said anything about restricting the mosque? I said that I questioned their motives. I would like the FBI to check into the background of the financing of this mosque. If it’s money from Iran being laundered through some front organization, then it is perfectly constitutional to stop this money flow.
I’m very impressed with your political correctness, but it’s getting tired.
Maybe you can understand our concern if you substitute “Tea Party” for “Radical Islam”. Try that out and get back to me.
“With all due respect, I will speak my mind on a movement that has, and continues to kill, Americans and I will continue to call it what it is: radical Islam. This is an open thread.’
Of course I respect your right to do this benson. And I think you are a very intelligent person. I just wish you could see it like I do that you are just playing into the desired effect of radical islam by getting all miliataristic about it.
And as a percentage of all the people they have killed over the years Americans can’t make up more than 10% of total. They kill way more people from other nations. Just sounds a bit tasteless to constantly beat the drum of Americans killed as if our lives have inherently more value.
What is unfortunate about the mosque thing is that it is a case of people trying to push the envelope of free speech and in the process they just piss people off and cause otherwise reasonable people like benson and legion (and god knows how many thousands of others) into reactionary mode. Its a shame that some people see the need to do this but at the same time, you can’t go the other way and seek to place restrictions on things that are not in line with our constitution.

Rob, what kind of paintings do you have? Do you try to collect? Or are these gifts or your own work?
