You are a reasonable person, no doubt.
You are also very intelligent and certainly
not ideological as far as I can tell.
The differences here lie in the extent to which you
are willing to follow a policy of absolute neutrality
with regards to the treatment of an ideology bent on our
destruction and the destruction of western values (radical islam).
I do not and will not cede my own ability to use prior actions and events as a basis for judgement on future events.
I didn’t say you were myopic benson, I said that in general the citizens of this country suffer a bit from it. I similarly am an American who travels a lot and is concerned about the fate of this country and its citizens. WE share this and we share a distaste for radical islam. We just differ (it seems–don’t want to put words in your mouth after all) on the best course of action for combating it. But peace to you, I always appreciate the strength of your convictions and we are certainly on the same “side” when it comes to being here in NYC in the 21st Century and wishing for it and the nation to prosper.
“i think it’s a tacky idea to stick a mosque down there.”
And with that, rob channels Lovey Howell, uniting the Gilligan’s Island and mosque near ground zero discussions. Brilliant. Effing Brilliant. Take that, randi!!!
think some of you should be listening to Nas’ new ablum now too
…I’m a world traveler as well.
And I make no apologies.
Because I know history all too well.
Arkady;
Fine. Then all I ask is that folks speak from their experience, and not make assumptions about others’ “worldliness”.
Can we end the mosque discussion now????

Many of the rest of us on the thread are world travellers – different experiences & different conclusions.
