Dipster,
I don’t know what all of the State employees do…. all I know is that this silly website makes my work day grow. If i gave up this horrible Brownstoner habit, I could go back to my 9 to 5.
I did not miss your point. I think your point is framed poorly. This is not on ground zero. It is on private land nearby, not on a government-controlled site. The development got approved as a zoning matter by the community board. I am very uncomfortable with the kind of arbitrary power it would take to tell a religious group in the U.S. that it cannot develop a site for religious purposes because that site is near, not on, a different site of symbolic importance because we are afraid — without specific evidence against the group itself — that the group is lying about its purposes and is looking to score propaganda points. And I am certainly leery of giving that kind of power to a local community board, which is not even the final or binding last word in local land use questions. Come up with something about this particular group that would give legal grounds for blocking otherwise lawful private land use, and we can have a discussion.
“I wonder if this is going to do to video what DSLRs did to film cameras.”
I think you are on to something here denton. So many changes coming to the way media is made and disseminated it makes my head spin and fear for my way of life business-wise.
…raised Catholic.
