those people in the street are not really in a happy cult, they are just the unfortunate few college kids in NYC who dont get ridiculous amount of funding from their parents so they have to take those ridiculous canvasser jobs. occassionally you will see one or two of them off break and they can be down right nasty making fun of the people that they accosted on the street. i truly hate them. and yes yes, i know they are different than real volunteers. i just look at time as money and since i dont have money i sure as hell aint gonna give up my time.
Sigh, rob…..most volunteers are in it to help others. No ulterior motives or back patting involved. Just the ability to do the things that need doing, because you believe in the cause. The people who accost you in the streets are a whole different story. Personally, I think they are all in the same happy/happy cult. They are so perky and upbeat, my teeth hurt being around them.
