“We do have comparisons to make, for instance Israel.”
You mean you want to compare the number of successful suicide bombings in the US (zero) with the number in Israel?
Denton,
you missed the 3 successful suicide plane bombers on 9/11.
I was just doing some research following lechacal’s post about the total number of threats to US aviation.
I found this interesting paper indicating the specific measures recommended for US flights to combat the threat of terrorist activity.
The first paragraph mentions that Richard Reid (the shoe bomber) ruled out Israeli planes due to their high security measures.
Still haven’t found out if the total number of threats handled by Homeland Security has increased.
Will look into this further though.
Cgar, there are no Belorussian or Lithuinian parts of Brooklyn. All of former USSR is like a big mush pit in Brooklyn and we’re all over.. Yes…we even got boxers in Boerum Hill, Cat ladies in Bed Stuy and Goat boys in Kensington….Go figure.

I somewhat agree with you concerning the accomplishments that took place under Nixon. The problem is tho, that the conservatives who voted for him weren’t big fans of the Clean Air Act, were they?
Ooohhh….I blew my delivery…..my friend was teasing me.
I was telling him that I told the interviewer that I would love to work again with my friend (i.e. he was a good worker). My friend teased me in the email….but would he want to work with ME??
Anyway, he went on to thank me profusely which I left out.
Oh well, I wrote on the OT recently about a brief meditative interlude I had walking down the street the other night, feeling OK about life despite the vicious onslaught I experienced during the financial disaster of 08/09. Some told me that things weren’t so good for them. I was feeling that I survived, which I did. But it is true that armies of friends, former co-workers are still out of work. It is incredible how many there are. You realize how important it is to have a network of friends looking out for you. I am sure that guy would do the same and more for me….

“they also must demonstrate the ability to communicate a competence to the general public”
That is a perfectly valid test of leadership.

Speaking of TV, anyone seen the new reality series on Style, “Tacky House”, saving people from their own bad taste?

Lechacal,
Think of Nixon and Watergate.
Here was an effective leader (waits for laughs to end)
but really;
won landslide 2nd election
got us out of Vietnam
started the EPA
opened up China
created Detente with the USSR
he resigned.
why?
He erased tapes with evidence that he had knowledge of
the Watergate break-in. AFTER THE FACT.
He didn’t order the DNC break-in.
He simply erased tapes where, presumably, the break-in was discussed.
He resigned.
Not for lack of leadership ability.
for the storm of public opinion against his credibility.
