Not sure what you’re all debating about Nixon. Seriously. Paying no attention whatsoever. But I have a much more favorable opinion of him as a President today (and in recent years) than contemporaneously. Putting aside Watergate and his personal demons. Much of his foreign policy, environmental policy and social policy is laudable and, dare I say, progressive. Today, his views would get him drummed out of the Republican Party. Carry on. (I also have a more favorable view of Reagan, and a less favorable view of Carter, if such a thing is even possible, than I did contemporaneously.)
I’m afraid my statement stands.
He was a complex personality,
I read that he even “scripted” his
discussions with certain people,
that is, he would write down scenarios
with his responses. To routine conversations.
His personality failings ultimately did him in.
but his leadership on certain issues remains;
-Detente with the USSR
-Opening free trade with China
-Establishing the EPA
-Desegregating the government (Wilson re-segregated it)
-Withdrawing from Vietnam
-Landslide victory in 72′
legion, You’ve finally lost it with that Nixon bit. Go watch the Frost Nixon interviews. In my opinion, you’ve got to go back and start reading material from both sides of the story and some more neutral parties. This position you are taking is unrealistic.
DIBS you are all talk. You said you would take the other side of any trade I made! Go for it. Put your money where your mouth is. Have some balls!
By the way, I put my own money at risk. How much of your own money is in the fund pool where you work?
Please tell me that you are writing that to get a rise
out of bxgrl and me and others.
Please tell me that.
You absolutely CANNOT believe that Nixon left office
as a great leader, fallen by public opinion. Nixon was
in a near psychotic state when he resigned, isolated and beseiged thanks to his consistently poor judgement, fed by resentment and paranoia. Nixon was brilliant but a total nut and a liar.

A. Really don’t care, *rob*.
2. Most of these things I post are for YOUR benefit, and your responses are entirely predictable.
(iii) Didn’t watch Tacky House. Saw the ad and thought it would be appropriate for losers like you who enjoy reality TV is all.
And, PS, you’re on my sh*t list.
Legion,
Are you serious about Richard Nixon?
