  1. “ENY;

    I agree with what you state 1000%. Well said. It is exactly for this reason that I object to some of these so-called “hate crimes”, in which a person gets extra time put on their sentence if they utter a racial epithet while committing a felony.”

    I agree, Benson! I mean, most people who want to fight someone will begin with a few choice insults, and as we all now, racial slurs make some of the best insults, regardless of whether or not the person uttering them buys into that line of thinking.

  2. Pete…we sold our broad China exposure a week or so ago…anything with banks & property in it. The banks are going to show a drop in loan growth and estimates are going to have to come down.

    We hold a fair number of selective stocks with exposure to consumer and infrastructure. All listed in Hong Kong. Keeping CAF but put a short on 2823 HK

  3. Slopefarm — Totally agree with you. But I was so desperate to get home and then after I honked and flipped her off at the start, she smiled with this shit-eating proud grin. That set me off.

    ENY — Total Bullshit. Just saying it’s perfectly OK for this nutjob to use racist language because she acting otherwise irrationally is dumb. So, it would have been equally acceptable for me to yell, “You’re a black piece of shit!” ??!! Because I was being otherwise irrational? Hmm… Interesting. It’s also funny that I never thought of her race as the cause of her being a fucking aggressive bitch. But my whiteness is the cause of my preventing her from fully *expressing* her aggressive, nutjob bitchness.

    The Return of the What — OR the point you *could* make is that someone should not be friends with someone that carries a .38 and has a penchant for using it. You say that people carry guns in this city like you endorse it… like it’s OK. Don’t stand up to assholes because they may have guns like all of my friends. Jesus.

  4. hey folks,

    what’s all this about racial epithets?
    doesn’t surprise me at all unfortunately,
    people are people,
    when heated and angry they reach for the nearest
    object or nastiest verbal weapon available.

    this was common growing up in new york,
    I heard every derogatory term for hispanic
    by the time I was 7 and some that were even
    made up. I just see it for what it is now,
    an attempt to harm by words, but they only have
    effect if you allow them to have any more significance
    than revealing the other person to be an a$#hole trying to harm you into submission with words.

  5. ***Ding Ding Ding ******

    We have a winner here!

    “Hey, if he wanted to go redress the terrible wrong he suffered at the hands of the admittedly crazy and racist lady, he was free to do so, as you point out. But why argue with someone like that? What exactly would he have gained?”

    Goes right along with my “Keep ******* around” thesis!

    The What

    Someday this war is gonna end..

  6. DIBS;

    For exactly the reasons that ENY stated above. When folks are in an irrational mode, they often say stupid or hurtful things (heck, look at the OT!!). I don’t believe in punishing folks for what they say – however harmful or odious it may be. I believe in punishing people for their actions.
