ENY – point taken. (And I agree with you, actually. I should have counted to ten like Donatella suggests… but I didn’t… made for an interesting Sunday afternoon.)
donatella,
I find that when trying to prevent the last minute mergers to cut in front – that I drive keeping myself as far left as possible…especially keeping a bit more left in the lane than the person I am tailgating in front of me.
Usually works.
Snappy, I actually don’t get your argument.. If I was to say “I don’t want to be seated next to a black person in a restaurant” – that would make me prejudiced but not racist as I have no true power to actually make it happen?
I just don’t agree with the people who think there is some obligation to back down from these people. Aggressive assholes needs to be put in their place. They think they can get away with stuff all the time because people are always just getting out of their way.
Of course this has totally gotten me in trouble before.
This one time in Hawaii I was at the Pali lookout with my mom and my little brother and these three big Samoan dudes broke into my mom’s car and stole my suitcase and jumped in this big SUV and started driving away, and I just flipped it and jumped into my mom’s car and started going after them. I have no idea what I thought I was going to do if I caught up with them, but there we were, going more than 90 mph through back roads around Kanueohe. I guess I thought I would at least see where they were going so I could tell the cops or something. Anyway they ended up going around this tight corner and then they were just gone. Probably drove off the road or something.
And then this other time when I was in the Navy this big asshole who always cut in the chow line cut like three people in front of me (his friends let him). He was like 2x my size and he had all these friends with him but I still got up in his shit and made a big show of it. We ended up going at it and one of his friends slammed a door and it hit my head and I got knocked out. So I lost that one, but that was the last time he ever cut in line. He always just figured he could cut in line b/c no one ever called him out on it. Once he realized people were willing to call him out on it he stopped. Even if I got my ass knocked out.
Looks like it was related to Breast cancer. Age 67.
Oh, dear. Lynn Redgrave.
Lech;
I think that folks are just applying the old expression “Discretion is the better part of valor” to the situation at hand.
Dave, was Lynn Redgrave’s death sudden, or had she been sick? Tough year for that family.
so – you prefer being labeled a stupid ignorant bigot than a racist?

To me, that statement would be blatantly racist.
