  1. “It’s wrong to fire someone on the basis of an allegation. It’s it’s proven true, I agree, the teacher should be fired, and I suspect she would be dismissed (and possibly jailed).

How exactly do unions figure in this?”

yeah yeah I know – innocent until proven guilty.

it may be wrong to fire someone on the basis of an allegation – but it’s not illegal. NY is a fire-at-will state isn’t it?

If any one of us office jockies put our hands on another employee we’d be fired immediately. Since teachers are heavily unionized – this teacher, who clearly committed misconduct – gets to sit in a rubber room on the tax payers dime. sorry, not cool.

  2. lol Lech, don’t pick on my horrible grammer, damn it!

Lesbiman, email me at bkjester3 AT aol.com. I’ll give you a few suggestions…. a dinner for 4 at a Russian place should be no more than $150 (BYOB). Unless you’re going to a banquet style like Tatiana where everything is included.

  3. “So apparently teachers can punch students in the face and NOT get fired? Yay Unions”

It’s an allegation, DH, and the teacher was charged w/assault. She was also placed on admin duties until pending an investigation. We won’t know if it’s true or not until the trial concludes.
