  1. Dibs, I agree with you on the Goldman hearings. One of the difficulties with the financial regulation issue is that this stuff requires knowledge of the industry and it seems that these Senators might have put a little brainpower into trying to learn what it is they are trying to regulate. It was a painful thing to watch them.

I went home last night thinking of the brownstoner discussions, the Goldman hearings, PLUSAs, the What (I guess he is a PLUSA too) ,and the incredible mess we lived through from mid-2008 in the markets, the housing sector and our own little patch of brownstone Brooklyn. Walking down my street, I noticed again that most of the
wrecks had been bought and rehabbed, Shawn Alexander’s (remember him?) project on my street was being finished up and condos were being sold there. Neighbors had planted trees, spring repairs were being made to stoops, some bikes (unlike mine) remained still chained to their stoops, early attempts at gardening were in full swing,
The late people (I am one of them) were coming home, a gaggle of loud, laughing teenagers from the block going home too. It occurred to me that we somehow lived through all the shit and life goes on. Then I got a text from one of my tenants. She said she just got home from a conference and said she was so happy to come home; (I had her place plastered and painted nice colors to match her stuff , gave her new light fixtures, including a little chandelier). Yeah, I got good tenants too.

I thought hey, somehow we managed to dust our selves off a little, especially those of us in financial services, and in the midst of all we have to do, we can enjoy the ocassional luxury of entertaining ourselves on Brownstoner.com.

    I can deal with it.

  2. Yup, that’s the one, Biff.

Smiler’s is a big chain. there’s one right near my office. i refuse to go. it was the worst Chinese I’ve ever had (outside of bed Stuy) amd it was ridiculously expensive.

Tell her to learn to speak Korean. I had a discussion with the Korean owner in the one near where I used to live on East 54th St. i asked her why she only carried the skim milk and the 1% in quarts and not half gallons. She told me “it doesn’t come in half gallon size.”

I asked her if she’s ever been outside the bodega in her life???? Some people are just either 1. stupid, 2. assholes or 3. stupid and assholes.

  3. It’s the bxgrl curse, rob. Everytime you insult the Bronx, I call your employer up and tell him, no raise for rob this year. At this point you won’t be getting one for at least 6 years more.

  4. “and ALL of those food by the pound places are RIP OFFS! RIP OFFS! a teeny tiny sliver of lasagna winds up ringing up to almost 6 bux? please.”

Sounds like a potentially profitable start up for my friend then!

Thanks all for the great suggestions.

  5. who knew Greece had an airforce?

Your unbiased appraisals of yesterdays senate proceedings don’t seem to jive with the headlines on newstands this a.m. — including the Murdoch/RNC rag that said ‘Sachs of S**T’…pretty funny I thought.

  6. “Greek air force calls in sick today. The whole air force. ahahahahhaha”

    Haaahahahahhahahah!

The collapse is upon us Adam.

Greek contagion coming to a theatre near you.

    Laugh at that!

    The What
