As for the hearings, I think two issues got confused — the SEC charge against Goldman, and the bigger question of what happened in the markets. Whether or not GOldman was within the law on the SEC’s charges, and DIBS does an excellent job of laying out the Goldman legal case in a nutshell, the question for the Senate is different — whether the market operated in a way that ought to be restrained to avoid future crises of this kind and avoid the massive bailouts that were needed. If DIBS, jackal, (and dona???) are suggesting we leave thighs where they are, I can’t go along with that.
i think benson’s point is that it seems okay to only be able to make fun of some religions, but not others. it’s okay to make fun of some races, but heavens forbid you made fun of some races youre deemed a racist. there is a certain sense of PC ridiculousness in this country.
personally i dont care who says what about whom. freedom of speech and all, if you dont like what someone says, too bad, close your ears. i have no qualms making fun of anyone, because most of the time it’s quite deserved.
