  1. Oh, and *rob*, I’m the first to admit I’ve been drinking gallons of Kool-Aid the past 2 months, but not over Whole Foods. Yes, I love Whole Foods, but I don’t do all my shopping there. I buy certain things I look, most notably their organic dog food (cheaper than Alpo, and do NOT challenge me on this again, or you and I are going to Whole Foods AND Pathmark this weekend to comparison shop), which is all CDog will eat since the pet food recall of ’07. I also like their prepared foods a lot. So there. Sue me. 😛

  2. Perdida, I have been following the story of construction worker immigrants in Spain. It seems pretty desperate. Thanks for your travel tip. Benson, there is a pretty full legislative plate before the mid-term elections. Tehy got health care, now financial reform is a slugfest, but there will be something. Will the next be energy/climate change or immigration? I think that is the question. Obama’s strategy was to try to hit as many big issues as possible before the mid-term election.

  3. “Also like the soon-to-be-in-effect mandate that will force young people and others to buy health insurance that they don’t need.”
    benson – I was 26 & uninsured when I got cancer. Worked 8 years to pay off debt when I wasn’t recovering from more surgery & uninsurable because of cancer. It’s fatuous to say young people & others don’t need it.
    And that’s being offensive on a real issue not some intangible idea.

  4. CGar;

    I once was involved in politics. I was an active member of the Conservative party for a number of years. If it were not for my wife’s health issues, I would have done just that years ago.

    The Conservative party once asked me to run as an assemblyman for a district in Southern Brooklyn (and my opponent would have been a family friend!).

    In NYC and NYS, I would have little prospect of winning, however. Too much political othodoxy here.

  5. I don’t know why some of you people (and you know who you are) don’t put your money where your big mouths are (and I say this with tremendous affection, no homo / no hetero) and run for office. You can’t possibly do any worse in Washington or Albany than the clowns already there.
