I think Republicans can still win in some parts of NYC / NYS.
For a state office, a good candidate could win in outer BK or Queens, most of L.I, some of Westchester etc.
I’m sorry that you find my statement offensive. However, I stand by it (and spoken as someone whose wife had her first encounter with Lupus on our honeymoon, and my daughter her first encounter with MS near her 21st birthday.)
CGar, I think many who truly want to make a difference and work for positive change, the idealists, get run over with a truck in politics, and also find that too many deals have to be made, too much sleeping with the devil, in order to get even a fraction of good accomplished. It’s probably really easy to get hypnotized by the spinning wheels of power.
Those who go into it for their own personal benefit are welcomed with open arms by lobbiests and powermongers, and are eventually endicted, or more than likely, retire to be hired for gazillions by the people they have prostituted themselves for. A win/win for them, not the people.
Sorry, I am very cynical about politics. It’s a necessary evil, and I admire the good people who go into it for all the right reasons, and are still fighting the good fight, but I couldn’t do it.
oh, funny–the english woman’s comment or question–
“You can’t say anything about immigrants. All these eastern
Europeans- where are they coming from?” –
duh?
I’m proud of her 2nd comment thought–“My family have voted Labour all their lives- my father even sung Red flag”.!!!
Can’t watch the video at work, lech…will have to wait for tonight but I see is montyP. I know i’ll laugh.

Arkady;

OMG, Arkady, so THAT was your 20 major surgeries. Wow, you are really tough. What an ordeal.
“In NYC and NYS, I would have little prospect of winning, however. Too much political othodoxy here.”
Or we just don’t agree with your politics. Always easier to blame someone else for an anticipated failure. Now you’ll never know.
Lechacal- don’t you just stare them down and they slink away?
benson, what makes you think you were one of the people I was talking about? You were, of course, but how did you know?
😉
dh…my Mexican friend and his family come in through Nogales, AZ. AZ is apparently famously porous along its border.
perdida – The Spanish gov’t is attacking the rating agencies, bringing up Lehman, predictably.
