“I always tell The Champs to refer to my friends as Aunt or Uncle.”
I should have clarified and said I only do this with my absolute closest friends whom I know don’t mind this. Otherwise, they should use Mr. or Mrs. or Ms. unless instructed not to.
I just got offered a CEO spot at a startup that is in fundraising mode. Salary would be zero. I would work for paper. But I would be excited and challenged and could build a company. I’m not sure what to do.

We used to call a couple of my mother’s closest friends “Aunt”, and it was years before I realized they weren’t really blood relatives. As adults, it was easy to drop the “Aunt” and just call them by their first names.
“Donatella = female, more classy version of Benson.”
We’ll see how long that assessment holds up after the two of you talk politics. Not sure you two see eye to eye.
DIBS — Securities law isn’t my area, but I wonder if SEC’s signaled with the civil suit that they won’t be going criminal route with this one. It sure smells like stuff they’ve gone the criminal route over with lesser targets in the past. Perhaps they pulled a punch out of sensitivity to the economy. Market will freak for a day or so, until the intent and direction of this becomes clearer. Surprised GS didn’t find a way to preemptively settle this; market would be less rattled if the total extent of the damage to GS, even if substantial, were confined at outset.

The only non-relatives we use Aunt and Uncle for are our godparents.
I grew up calling 85-90% of my friends parents/adults by their first name as instructed forever.
But I grew up with hippie types over here in the 60/70s. : P

My sister and I still call our parents’ friends Mr and Mrs, usually to their irritation nowadays, but it’s just what we’re used to.
