Just a note that during the late afternoon and early evening today you may experience some difficulty accessing Brownstoner.com as we migrate to a new design for the site and launch the site for Brownstoner Philadelphia. Thanks.

  1. “We were all stumped as to what it is they’re building that will obscure the Woolworth Building.”

Are you referring to the Frank Gehry-designed residential tower close to the Brooklyn Bridge and the water, jester?

  2. It is a beautiful house but too heavy with the dark and the art.
We rented from Netflix a film called Flag Wars the other week. Done in Columbus Ohio where this house is.
Gentrification/Historic Preservation and issues bring up.
Gays invading older black/afro-american neighborhood. Very well done I thought…not to heavyhanded on one side or other. I recommend.

  3. “but too done.”

THAT’S IT! It’s overstaged. When the house gets sold and it’s bare, just think of all the holes on the dining room wall from those little paintings.
Unless, they’re selling it with everything in it.

  4. I also don’t like the grey vibe and black woodwork, too dark.

Crude oil at highest levels since 4rd quarter 2008 meltdown – this despite steady dollar. Looks like money manager funds (long only) are getting 2nd quarter allocations. We are seeing in other commodities too.

  5. Agree DeLepp.

    Here’s my design critique:

Some of it is super nice and other design choices I’m scratching my head on.
Photo #4 – The grill on the wall is driving me nuts. I would have put it in the very high baseboard, with a custom wood grill that marries into baseboard. Would have put the electrical outlets in baseboard also. It’s more discreet.
#5 – Brick over the range is awful! And the countertop jut outs by the sink! You know as soon as you turn around from the sink, you’ll get jabbed in the stomach.

I do love the sofa (#7) and the pendant light fixture in #8.

#10 – bad decision to put the plumbing fixtures for the tub on the wall. If you’re in the tub and want to add more hot or cold water, it’s a far stretch.
