Well, glad to see that after a couple of days MIA the discussion is at least about things one can find in a brownstoner and not on the corner of filth and dirty bird.
Arkady, it’s a fairly new frigadaire over (a year or 2 old) and it is gas. do you think I should still buy a metal thermometer to check the temperature inside is in fact same as on the handle.
Ty, in my defense, I am 29 and not married or have any kids. I eat out A LOT so I don’t do much baking at home.
what’s mind boggling to me is that people freak out when they find out someone doesnt know about a certain supposedly “common” item.
newsflash: despite what the medical community says, the human brain is NOT an infinite storage space for facts and information. there are some “common” things that everyone supposedly should know about that for some people are totally and completely off the radar! i too never heard of a broiler until only a few years ago as well. why would one even think to look down there?!
>In my and husband’s cultures, broiling is never done
which culture?
“I am 29 and not married or have any kids”
No kids that you know of.
Yet.

Gee, Rob, I’m so surprised.

“In my and husband’s cultures, broiling is never done.”
You mean you never broiled cheese toast for a snack? That’s terrible!! ; )
I broil every single day. That’s why I need to start wearing t-shirts and sit with a fan blowing.
“show me who boiling works”
Not coming over to show you “who” to boil, ET. Call Jeffrey Dahmer for that.
