  1. bxgrl, didn’t mean you guys calling each other liars. It was about the dem/rep discussion I saw (I forgot the names of the 2 senators). They kept on saying to each other how each is making false statements but more some dem. senator saying it. I was saying that their discussion was very similar yours on here over these past few months especially leading to this point in time.

Listen, people are passionate about it on both sides. Even Repulicans admitted that something needed to be done with healthcare in this country…the big question, at what cost….

No one really knows the right answer of what will work or what won’t (and if someone thinks they do-they’re delusional). I am just honestly glad that this is going in phases and hopefully under big scrutiny and in little stages to see what really is working and what isn’t and altering this reform to benefit the majority of the country and put us in line with other modernized countries in terms of healthcare coverage. At the same time, this reform should not hurt the advances that we made in the medical field over the history so that we can still create innovative technology to cure diseases and have the most knowledgeable researchers/doctors/surgeons get paid the amount of money that they deserve to create innovation and increase life expectancy for human beings.

  2. Legion- MY partisan anger? Legion, you need to read the things you write.

I don’t know where you are getting your poll numbers from but a majority of Americans in this country want health care reform. It was one of the major reasons Obama won. Something this major will never pass unanimously, but the point is, it passed. The government is working as it was meant to do- the Republicans do not always get to define what is good or bad for the country. And after 8 years of wrecking it, the very least they could do is try to work with the President and the Dems to fix the mess they made. Don’t talk about my partisan anger until you acknowledge Republican responsibility.

  3. you can’t think of today’s republican party as the same party of old. They started their downward fanatical path with Goldwater and worsened in Reagan years. Now they are so
dogmatic and far-right it is scary.

  4. ENY,

actually, I am not whining, I feel quite secure actually, in the knowledge that the truth will out.

what I don’t like is the idea that because this bill was pushed through by any means necessary it will somehow gain credibility.

If anything, there will be time now to examine the bill on it’s merits now that the public has become privy to the details.
And let me tell you, the details are not pretty.
it is rife with pork, corruption and kickbacks.

I made a prediction for 8 senator seats lost in Nov.
I will continue to stand by that, we should make that 7 now that Brown has the Kennedy seat in Mass.

  5. The president campaigned on health care reform among other things and won 53% of the vote. As we have heard from both sides of the aisle over the years “Elections have consequences” and if you give a party a president and majorities in both houses you are going to get major legislation.

  6. Legion – First off, when Soc. Sec. & Medicare were passed people were more civil to one another. Second, when each was passed the GOP predicted that the then-president would be vilified down through the ages – particularly LBJ & Medicare. Instead both are looked on as positive legacies of those administrations.

  7. kens,

the biggest lie thus far is the idea that this bill will somehow pay for itself.
the bill they passed yesterday didn’t include the “doctor fix” which both parties agree will get passed,
the doctor fix bill basically covers the 20% cut in pay that the healthcare proposes to pay for itself over the next 10 years.

conveniently, the dems did not include the doctor fix bill in the original congressional budget office accounting, this is how they got the ridiculous headline that the healthcare bill will somehow cost less over time and save us money.

it is nothing but a lie and even bxgrl will admit to it if she understands what the basic bills entail.
