  1. That the conservative judges are people like Clarence Thomas (who doesn’t appear to have any “connect” w/ his life experiences) & others who don’t believe in Darwin, speaks volumes about the human capacity for selective inattention & cognitive diissonance.
(And for all you vocabulary builders out there, both of those latter terms can be defined as “willful ignorance.”

  2. First of all i would like to thank Tiger (The golfer, not the tabby) for bailing me out. It was sweet of him to help. I have retained a lawyer from the firm of Woulda, Coulda and Shoulda to go over my pre-nup. I now own CDog and the tent, as well as all the real estate and antique furnishings. Never mess with a RAP, CGar. 🙂

MM and snaps- neither one of you could bring me a new pair of fishnet pantyhose? Excuse me while I totter home on my very uncomfortable 5 inch heels, take a long hot bath and plot my revenge- er – new plan for living. I know you were pro bono, snappy- but really! As for you, MM- be afraid. Be very afraid *laughing wildly*

benson- you can forget that secret love nest we had. Your name has been taken off my speed dial and I have tossed out the fur covered monogrammed handcuffs I especially bought for you. Ha! Leave me in jail, will ya?

  3. jessibaby,

I agree that judges make decisions informed by their own history and their own understanding of the law.
Ironically, it’s the very reason I found it laughable that the Democrats found the qualifications of Bush nominee Estrada (who was perfectly qualified) to be a problem.
    why? because he was conservative.
And yet they celebrated Sotomayor’s qualifications for her personal history and struggle. As if Estrada didn’t have an equally compelling personal history and struggle.

Judges have enough leeway within the scope of the law to make life and death decisions as it is. Why should we give them additional powers to re-write laws which don’t suit their temperment or personal history?

Leave that to the people and their representatives.

Let the house of representative vote on this issue and let the American people speak for themselves through their representatives.

  4. jessi,

    thanks for the actual quote,
for it really shows what I am talking about.
the parts that are problematic are the pauses
    she takes in between,
the pauses filled by the “joke” where the
audience is left to understand that
    of course judges fudge it.
that’s why the audience is laughing.

    pause.

sometimes the silence is what speaks volumes.

  5. Pete,

what’s a low pay union working living in a house that’s way way more than 900k? Along with you huge support for “made in china” stuff, it’s time for you to turn in your union badge – ie you’re “one of THEM on the other side of the picket line” now

  6. Legion,
Thanks for the info on Ben and Jacks. I couldn’t recheck yesterday after I posted ’cause we lost power at work.
I’ll probably go for the lamb, since I love it so much. I wont be paying attn to price, since it will be a sponsored “educational” meeting….
