I’ve had this out with dittoburg at length in the past,
one can belive in Darwin and still have religious faith,
recall the list of religious scientists I’ve listed in the past including
Mendel
Pasteur
Bohr
etc,
etc,
etc
and it is quite presumptuous of you to state that Clarance Thomas doesn’t have a connect with his own life experiences as I’ve listed many prominent Republican African Americans throughout history, namely;
Frederick Douglas,
Harriet Beacher Stowe,
Sojourner Truth,
George Washington Carver
Booker T. Washington
MLK (at least according to his neice Dr. King)
just to name a few.
please don’t perpetuate the fallacy that Americans of all color cannot have conservative values and viewpoints.
After 8 years of serious Constitutional infringements promoted by the Bush Administration, it’s a little late to be worrying. This is what I don’t get- where was all the umbrage when Bush was in office? For 8 years this country practically gave away our rights, our moral compasses and our principles. How can conservative memories be so impossibly short?

Would you please cite the specific innstances you are referring to. One day in front of a judge with your lawyer for solicitation does not give you the right to make such braod , sweeping statement.
I think you are really stretching to take issue with Sotomayer. You’re interpreting and putting your own spin on what she said. Since you are already politically prejudiced against her, your take really has more to do with your imagination than with the reality.

Legion, you’re right — she’s admitting it. The joke is that judges are expected to NEVER insert themselves into their opinions (lawyers arent very funny). When the law and facts are clear – it’s easy to decide without injecting personal opinion, but it’s the cases in between where circuit judges often have to make what are essentially policy decisions.
