it kind of matters what Americans think since it is Americans electing the leadership of the country.

Certainly. And, more importantly, the swing in perception on the other issues mentioned (homeland security & treatment of captured terrorists) is even more compellingly against the current administration.
CGar, the pump the Kool Aid in mist from thru the air vents. you’ve been breathing it in. hence why you’re encountering such withdrawal effects when you leave work and the urge to stay at the office
I don’t get it. Why ask a bunch of Americans off the street what the rest of the world thinks about us??? Have you ever seen “Jaywalking?” The average American couldn’t pinpoint MOST foreign countries on a map.

DIBS, you know that selective editing. if they encountered you and you answered all the questions correctly, they edited you out
biff,
I hear what you’re saying but the interesting thing about this poll is that, despite obvious efforts by the USA to reform it’s image, we are less respected.
You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
And then the argument becomes whether the innovations created and fostered by American aggression and expansion have made the world a better place or not. It’s tough to say. Naturalists would say we are worse off, realists would say we are better off as humans while nihilists would say it doesn’t even matter.
jessi and rob,
personally I agree with Rob, I’m the last one looking to Europe for leadership, especially after this distinguished list;
Stalin
Mussolini
Hitler
Tito
Chauchescu
Milosevic
Franco

I was remiss in posting links from the Sunday Metro section yesterday. Something for everyone:
Loud overbearing parents who feel the need to educate the rest of us while engaged in teaching moments with their kids(especially for *rob*):

Bonding over meatballs (especially for benson):

Architectural Digest Home Show on Pier 54 or Pier 55 in 2 weekends (I think) ($25/ticket if anyone wants to go):

“Think CGar is now realizing he got a big paycut from a $$$ per productive work hr perspective”
Not at all, m4l. I had an out of office meeting this morning. Besides, I drank the Kool-Aid, which I think they mix with the coffee. 😉

…and that’s just Europe.
DIBS, I was certain you could flip in far less than 6-8 hours. I would’ve guessed 6-8 minutes. 🙂
I’ll sign a petition to buy the What’s avatars (I’ll even chip in), and I’ll also sign a petition to bring the What back.
Personally, now that I have to be at work in the middle of the night, I’m drafting a petition to open the OT by 8am.
Jessi, that’s funny. I’m one of those rare Canadians whom people hate no matter where I go.
