  1. Room done? Oh puhleaze! We’re starting to think it’ll be a nice thing thing to present her with for her sweet 16.

No, truth is he was making great headway but then when she arrived the last thing he wanted to do was scrape lead paint for hours. He’s been hanging with the kid. He promises to get back in there this week and promises he’s going to have it done by her due date March 20th.

  2. “You can’t have respect without at least a little bit of fear.”

Disagree. The British did not fear “the naked little fakir,” but they sure as hell learned to respect him. I don’t think there are any hard and fast rules about earning respect. Growing up in ENY, I witnesed other folks employ your “blow up” tactic. It only works on SOME people. A guy who’s seen it happen before would not be impressed, trust me.

  3. “One of the main reasons this country has the Peace Corps is because if you actually KNOW an American, you are far less likely to hate one. I think it’s a great use of taxpayer money.”

You know, I wonder where folks get their news from.

I travel for a living to places far and wide (Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Italy and Israel recently, just to name a few). I have never sensed a hatred for the US government or Americans in any part of the free world. This whole issue is a myth created by folks to affect our own internal politics. Indeed, what strikes me, no matter where I go, is the pervasiveness of American culture, ideals and business practices.

The situation I am in right now illustrates the point. I am visiting two Israeli companies that are actually incorporated in the US, to tap into American capital, know-how and because its their biggest market. They have sizable operations in the US. As with ANYONE who wants to engage in global business these days, all communication is in English. I work for a Japanese company that looks to its US operations to handle this account, as it believes its American staff knows better how to handle such a global situation. This is not atypical for many global companies.

The fact is that there are only two groups today that are stridently anti-American: the hard left, and the radical Islamists.

  4. I’m not cranky… just 24-hour News Cycle / Continuous Campaigning type approach to life farking makes me angry. The World Opinion DOES mattter. If for no other reason than we have NO ability to be self-sustaining / self-subsisting anymore! Food, energy, consumer goods, clothing, etc etc etc.

You can dislike the current administration, but if you disregard the World’s opinion of us (or even worse, try to glean the world’s opinion by asking US), then you’re just asking for a kick in the face.

There should be term limits on Congress (3 terms, 6 years). There should be term limits on the Senate (2 terms, 12 year). There should be RESIDENCY requirements for both houses… meaning they should be IN Washington, D.C. the entire time congress is in session and no go home on the weekends — they need to learn to work TOGETHER again as a group… not campaigning and fundraising 60% of the week!

Congress should be seen as a duty, not a career.

And smart people that manipulate us with sensationalistic propaganda polls like this one that Legion cited should be called out by OTHER smart people… instead of cowering in the corner because it might affect their reelection poll numbers. CHRIST!

And jessibaby, I’d love for you to sit on my face.

  5. Frankly I’m more concerned that our education system is turning out students who do only as well as the lithuanians and that the american girl @ the cvs counter has trouble with her native tongue of english.
