  1. rob – I put the tarantula in the fridge since I couldn’t find flies The cold slows his metabolism.

Yes, jess, some small farms do grain feed &, definitely, grain-fed tastes much better & is more tender.

  2. How can someone forget that they have a tarantula???

Grain-fed, aged beef all the way!!!!!

There’s a much higher probability that you’ll get sick from organic vegetables with the use of manure as a fertilizer.

  3. DIBS, not to pick a fight but the article you pasted is blindly touching only one small part of the elephant to surmise the shape of the whole. Starvation is not occurring as a result of the small amount of organic farming in the US. There is an abundance of heavily subsidized corn in the US, but it does not end up in the mouths of starving third world children. It ends up in supersized soft drinks and all kinds of other food products here, as well as in corn ethanol which has a far smaller effect in reducing carbon footprint than is generally believed.

Organic remains boutique, expensive and inefficient due to economies of scale. But the economic and environmetnal externalities are far less than factory farmed food. I’m not a rabid organic person; I pick my spots, more for environmental than nutritional reasons, although I do like reducing my pesticide and mutant gene intake. But I think if you are going to look at issues of global starvation and food distribution, you need to look at a whole array of economic and regulatory incentives and disincentives here and abroad as well as foreign corrupt practices. US crop yields are largely not the issue and organic farming is not causing shortages. We could free up far more farmland if we stopped growing non-food corn for secondary industrial uses than if we outlawed organic farming. And no one is proposing making organic farming mandatory. You may not like it, which si fine, but it is not the villain.

  4. genetically altered food ROCKS! those ginourmous strawberries i love. i dont like the little itty bitty ones. and yes i KNOW the little itty bittie ones possibly might taste better, but they arent as fullfilling and they look stupid when they are chocolate covered.

rob – Denton’s doing today. You said you had laundry & we have you for tomorrow (Thursday) for fish & felines. Cobble’s doing Friday.

ah great, that’s what i thought, just wanted to make sure 🙂
snappy texted me tho and asked me to tell you all about the Tarantula she forgot to mention. Frozen flies are in a ziploc baggie in the the freezer.. Toonces (his name) gets 3 flies per day. You also have to give him water through a straw manually, he doesnt like drinking from a bowl. ahha
