Casswell MAssey has great stuff. i hope they survive the current downturn. They’ve been around since 1752. Hopefully they aren’t currently owned by a leveraged private equity firm.
Aniother great shop on Madison is The Art of Shaving.
Dave- Same as my dad. He the $1 drugstore ones (I think it’s by Colgate?) most times but I always get him a few of the nice sandalwood ones for his XMas stocking and for Fathers day etc. He likes the one I get from Bigelow Chemists by Geo F Trumper and the Caswell Massey one.
I use an old school badger bristle shaving brush and shaving soap. When I go out of my way to buy it, I get sandalwood scent, otherwise, i usually have the $1.00 cake you can get at most drug stores and it lasts for a year. If I didn’t, I’d be using Barbasol.
One of my favorite childhood memories was sitting in the bathroom on the counter watching my dad shave. He uses an old school brush and shaving soap. After he finished he’d always give himself a slap of old spice after shave.
…and then I saw this commercial. This DOES NOT make me think of my dear old dad in any way shape or form. Despite this being a sexy man it had me laughing so hard I had to watch it over and over again.
So look at this commercial…now back to me…you’re on a boat with the man your man could smell like…
MM- My husband’s been imitating him. “Look away, now back at me, I’ve just stolen your remote…”
I’m still finding it hysterical thus far but I may have to clock him soon.

Sorry no- it’s William’s Shave Soap.
THL, that commercial is priceless, I howled! “Look back at me…I’m on a horse.”
If my Old Spice Man looked like that, I would definitely have some memories to go with the scent of Old Spice.

Hey there peoples.

While he still uses shaving soap and a brush he stopped with the Old Spice ages ago. To this day though anytime I smell a man wearing out on the streets wearing it I get that warm fuzzy déjà vu feeling.
