  1. Meanwhile, our old friend polemicist reared his head. THe blogwrap links to a Gothamist story about a missing South Slope woman and in the comments to that thread polemicist complains that it is the fault of South Slope liberals who pushed for downzoning because, if greater development and housing density had been allowed denser housing, the neighborhood would have been safer and someone would have responded to her cries for help.

  2. I never had an 8-track. That shit was never hifi, even back in the day. Cassette was the way to go.

I do have a very nice turntable, which for the uninformed, still sounds better than digital, given any number of caveats.

I have a ‘vintage’ system downstairs with another turntable, Yamaha receiver, and Tandberg cassette deck.

The sexiest consumer electronics ever is a nice reel to reel tape deck.

  3. Listening to 8-tracks in the car on long rides was the thing to do when I was young. We always listened to The Gap Band. Imagine three young kids riding in the back of beat down hooptie Oldsmobile singing “You Dropped A Bomb On Me”!!!
