You should send him and his chairs to the Antiques Road Show and see if he can get a price that will woo him into selling them! I think lots of antiques are gorgeous, but it’s just so not my style. I think that’s why I don’t think I could ever buy a brownstone. I respect the historical beauty of those places that are intact, but I’d feel terribly guilty all the time about wanting to gut it.
West Village, in my book, is the West, West Village, near Hudson Street or beyond. I love walking around there, but it’s usually during the day, so it’s always pretty quiet. I have a client on Barrow near Bedford, so I’m there every so often. There is always a lot of renovation going on, but because the houses are mostly late 1700’s, early 1800’s, they are pretty small, compared to later Brooklyn brownstones and limestones.
it does smell really bad even in the winter. i walk through gramercy park a few times a week (i work behind the flatiron, live in east village, so it’s on the way home). the people who keep the garden there really like the manure.
I do frequent BayRidge quite a bit, BRG! Century 21 can’t be beat for high end bed linens at ridiculously low prices. I love to ride the bus down there and just look out the window and watch the neighborhood changes as we head south. That’s actually fun to do on any bus. When I first came to Brooklyn that’s how I explored the borough.
I’m definitely modern/contemporary. I love clean lines, slightly minimal, but lived in looks with colors other than white and beige.

Snappy, I live 10 blocks away from C21. I’ll meet in the Bedding Section.
Someone else on here that’s a minimilist beside myself….wooooohooooo!!!
Modern / Contemporary / Clean Lines, we’re talking the same language.
Now If only I can get rid of Hubby’s Antique rocking chairs!
That doesn’t make it smell any less, DIBS.

The only people who complain about Gramercy Park are ones that don’t have a key.
Snappy, a modern contemporary girl after my own heart.
Greenwood Heights….hmmm. We’re practically neighbors 😉
I go to the cemetery alot. One of my favorite places in Brooklyn. Maybe we can meet by Tweed.
